A New Chapter for
Our Association
As you hold this issue in your hands,
I am just weeks into the role of CEO—a
role that, in many ways, feels like a
continuation of a story that began 25
years ago. I have evolved alongside this
association, alongside this industry, and
alongside many of you. To now guide
its next chapter is both humbling and
energizing.
What has stood out most during
these early weeks is how much strength
already exists within our association
and across our membership. This is an
organization built on trust, collaboration,
and an unwavering commitment to golf
course owners and operators.
That foundation did not happen by
chance—it was earned through decades
of thoughtful leadership, engaged
volunteers, and a dedicated staff team.
Having worked closely with our
members and supplier partners for
many years, I understand the realities
you face. From operational pressures
and labour challenges to environmental
responsibility and long-term sustain-
ability, the role of today’s golf course
operator has never been more complex—or more important. Our association exists
to help you navigate those challenges, advocate on your behalf, and provide practical
value that supports your business, your people, and your long-term success.
This magazine is one of the ways we do that. It tells your stories, highlights
innovation, shares knowledge, and connects our industry from coast to coast. It
reflects the professionalism, resilience, and passion that define Canadian golf. As
CEO, I see tremendous opportunity to continue strengthening how we communicate,
collaborate, and create value together—through this publication and through every
touchpoint we have with our members and partners.
In the months ahead, my focus will be on listening. Listening to members, our
supplier community and our staff. The future of this association will not be shaped
from behind a desk, but through meaningful conversations and shared insight. Those
perspectives will continue to guide our priorities, inform our advocacy, and shape the
programs and services we deliver.
At the heart of everything we do is an exceptional staff team whose
professionalism, dedication, and service-first mindset are among this association’s
greatest strengths. As CEO, supporting and empowering this team to continue
delivering outstanding value will remain one of my highest priorities.
The road ahead is full of opportunity. With a strong staff team, a dedicated
board of directors, engaged members, and trusted industry partners, I am confident
in our ability to continue advancing the long-term interests of golf course owners and
operators across Canada.
If you want to connect, share feedback, or simply introduce yourself, I would
genuinely welcome it. You can reach me directly at 1-866-626-4262 extension 15 or
nlavallee@ngcoa.ca. My door—and my inbox—are always open.
