Valuable research is compiled through the Compensation and Benefits Survey Reports beginning in 2003 through to 2016.
Today, the NGCOA Canada owns and operates consumer golf shows branded as Golf Expos in Halifax, Quebec City, South Shore Montreal, Laval, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Vancouver. We also sponsor the Toronto show where we run a “show within a show” called the Play Golf Ontario Pavilion.
All of these events provide a wide selection of activities for golfers, including equipment demo ranges, seminar stages, retail outlets, lesson ranges, contests, door prizes, golf auctions, kids zones, and golf course exhibitors from the local region as well as destination resorts.
Golf courses benefit from data- base collection, their own promo- tions, public relations, and onsite package sales that sometimes exceed $200,000 for an individual club. At the end of the day, more golf does get played and the NGCOA Canada is contributing to one of its mandates of providing marketing support.
SO MUCH MORE...
There is so much more that we could reflect on if we had the space. The NGCOA Canada has had several critical advocacy wins, which are highlighted in an article on page 26.
Jeff raises a glass with NGCOA Canada Past Presidents Mark Seabrook, Larry Ungerman and Scott Atkinson in Ottawa, 2003.
In spring 2013, the NGCOA Canada launched detailed Rounds Played Reports with Weather Impact and Revenue Tracker Reports to follow.
Tom Cochrane rocks the delegates at the 2016 Golf Business Canada Conference & Trade Show.
As of November 2017, the NGCOA Canada now owns seven consumer golf shows across Canada.
We have raised funds for numerous charities, from the International Landmine Foundation to the Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids.
Our grow the game initiatives have also been very successful, including Take A Kid To The Course. With well over 700 golf courses from coast to coast, it has evolved to become the most participated in on-course junior program in Canada. The core program is to enhance junior golf by promoting free golf for kids accompanied by paying adults, and it is a big hit with the families.
Our research department has continuously expanded to include free monthly Rounds Played, Weather Impact and Revenue Tracking Reports, as well as Compensation and Benefits Surveys, Operational Benchmarking, Pulse Reports and Economic Impact Studies in partner- ship with NAGA. We have conducted over 200 NGCOA Canada Golf Tournaments and over 800 regional business meetings. We have also done approximately 200 media interviews promoting Canadian golf’s best interests.
Above all, the NGCOA Canada has really been about the great people in our association. I have mentioned just a few of them who were on the leading edge of our early developmental years, but there are so many more board members who have volunteered their efforts, and our staff team who are dedicated to executing the board’s strategic plan.
I also believe that one of the NGCOA Canada’s greatest accomplish- ments has been that we have facilitated thousands upon thousands of peer-to-peer relationships between golf course operators from coast to coast.
It has certainly been a fast 25 years and I am honoured to have experienced it from the very beginning. Thank you, and congratulations
to the NGCOA Canada!
