Featured Wreck: Benwood OUT of dive
The 1910 English-built merchant marine freighter sailed a crew of
38 equipped with 12 rifles and one four-inch gun. This ship sank in Remarks
1942 during the height of World War II. The Benwood collided with
another ship, the Robert C. Tuttle due to German U-boats that forced
the ships to travel in a completely blacked out state. You can find this
shallow wreck off the coast of Key Largo between French Reef and
Dixie Shoals.
