Beauty Update
As we know, Instagram has taken over the globe, ranking the third most used app in Canada! The Local Social program launched last year at Shoppers Drug Mart and this year it has really taken off! We have over 85% of stores with a registered local social account!
More than ever, during the 2020 pandemic our Local Social accounts allowed us to connect with the customer on a whole new level! Whether it’s showcasing new product launches, advertising bonus points events or promoting The Beauty Mingle, customers can connect with the stores all in the comfort of their own home!
We interviewed Beauty Manager Alicia from SDM1320 to get an insight of how she runs an active Local Social Instagram account for shoppers_kingandpeter.
Q: What motivates you to constantly post?
A: I post to educate clients on skincare and makeup techniques and the reason for using certain products.
Q:Why do you love posting stories?
A: I like to use the story feature to post products and sets as they come in to showcase what we have in store. Stories can be saved and grouped into different categories. Right now I have many categories saved on my homepage so customers can visit at any time and look at the different value sets we are offering for the holiday season.
Q: Do customers reach out to the store through Instagram inquiring about promotions after seeing your posts? A:Yes. Customers reach out asking questions sometimes.
Q: How do you get customers to follow your page?
A: By tagging the brand I am posting about. I also use lots of hastags(#) that relate to the theme of the picture. When customers are cashing out I also remind them to check out our Instagram page.
Q: Any tricks or tips you want to share? A: Keep the post clean; less is more. Try to post once a day; even if it’s a story.
