                 Chapter Number 78                                                                     Flying Through History


     February Chapter Minutes

      The chapter gathered at Doylestown Airport (KDYL) on
      Wednesday,  February  22,  2017  for  its  monthly
      meeting.

      Members  present:  Beth  Signore,  Tom  Russel,  Tim
      Jansen, Michael Ceglowski, Lino Flego, Guy Ullman,
      Charles Perry, Dave Hudnut & Bob Ferguson.

      The meeting commenced on time (7:30 PM) by Beth,
      recommending we update the mailing addresses of our
      members.

      Tom updated us regarding the pending B-17 visit this
      late  summer  &  the  WWII  vehicle  folks  at  Northeast
      Airport (KPNE). It is still a work in progress.             Dave told the members that the 980’ high hill was so-named
                                                                  because of its topographic shape vaguely resembled a pork
                                                                  chop. The total U.S. casualties were as follows; 243 kia, 916
                                                                  wounded, 9 captured, and 163 of the dead were never
                                                                  recovered.













      The members were treated to a highly detailed photos
      and  history  of  Chapter  78,  dating  back  to  the  70’s,
      complements of Dave Hudnut. He also told us about
      his experiences as a Korean War Veteran. Dave had
      everyone’s  undivided  attention.  Especially  when  he
      talked about the deeply dug in bunkers and the battle
      of Pork chop Hill in 1953.




                                                                  Of the South Korean troops (KATUSA), approximately 15
                                                                  were killed and 120 wounded. The Chinese casualties were
                                                                  estimated at 1,500 dead and 4,000 wounded.
