Approved Vendor Fee of $50 for Saturday only at February 24, 2023 Public Policy
Conference.
REPORTS
President DeSousa call for updated reports.
Public Policy Co-chair Rosemary Enzer reminded clubs to appoint a Public Policy
Chair, review the Public Policy Statement, Focus Issue and Bills in preparation for
the February 23-24, 2024, Public Policy Conference and look into your legislators
to be considered as CFBPW Legislator of the Year. Rosemary also said she will
representing CFBPW at the November Work and Family Coalition meeting.
Membership Chair Bessie Hironimus reported BPW Orange County has closed.
Rosemary Enzer said she would follow up with Elaine Wakeham about transferring
the clubs remaining funds to CFBPW. Bessie said she had communicated with San
Gabriel Valley Treasurer Lynn Wen and that although the club does intend to continue
with CFBPW she has not yet been able to send in the dues. Member Records reported
both clubs have been removed from the roster and Membership Report.
NEW BUSINESS
Nominations Chair election – President DeSousa called for nominations for the
position of CFBPW Nominations Chair. Michelle Husby nominated Lynn Brandstater
and Bessie Hironimus nominated Connie Stahl. With a vote of 13 to 7 Lynn Brandstater
was elected.
2024 Winter Board/Public Policy venue – Lynn Brandstater summarized her venue
search and moved the meeting be held at the Courtyard by Marriott-Burbank.
Motion Carried.
2024 Annual Conference venue – Following a presentation from Oxford Suites-
Sonoma, a brief recap of the proposal from the Hilton Arden Fair in Sacramento was
provided.
Linda Wilson moved to hold the meeting at the Hilton Sacramento and with a second
and a vote, the motion carried with 8 in favor and 7 against. There was confusion about
what exactly was being voted on. President DeSousa reminded the body all the
information had not yet been provided and that Oxford Suites will provide a Proposal
Monday, October 23, 2023.
After a review of the Oxford Proposal and comparison with the Hilton Proposal, an
electronic vote will be called.

At 12 noon, President DeSousa declared a 30-minutes lunch recess.
RECONVENE - PROGRAMMING
At 12:30 p.m. President DeSousa reconvened the meeting by asking Past National
President Sandy Thompson to present the ERA program. Patty Rayl of Jackson, Michigan
provided an update on national ERA efforts; Nancy Werner, NFBPWC Advocacy Team
ERA Lead shared her participation in the 100 Anniversary of Alice Paul’s writing the

Equal Rights Amendment; CFBPW’s Linda Wilson provided an ERA legal status update;

and Daneen Monroe Rusnak, NFBPWC 2 Vice President Advocacy, addressed
NFBPWC advocacy programs.
