Lucy Cavendish College continues to see great success following its first year of ‘new’
intake of all genders at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and from the age of 18 years
rather than 21 years for undergraduates.
The BPW Ruth Tomlinson Memorial Fund gives an annual award of up to £1,000 for a
student of the College with a disability. The Committee are pleased to announce that there are
two awardees for 2023-24, namely Ailsa Antwis and Chloe Hodson.
Ailsa Antwis
“I am extremely grateful to be receiving the Ruth Tomlinson Award. This will have a huge im-
pact on allowing me to best support myself during my final year of my degree in Psychological
and Behavioural studies. In order to put myself in the best position to succeed in my examina-
tions in May of 2024, it is important that I have access to counselling and therapy – something
this award will allow me to do. Therefore, I would like to offer my thanks to the donors – the
award is truly appreciated.”
Chloe Hodson
“I just wanted to say how grateful I am to have received this award.
As a geography student with limited mobility, I often struggle to participate in fieldwork as it
is rarely accessible to me. This award will really help towards additional costs I face in Cam-
bridge such as paying for taxis or putting fuel in my car. As a result, I will feel more confident
and comfortable attending field trips as I know I will be able to get there and back safely.
This will really enhance my studies and I can’t stress enough just how grateful I am to the do-
nors who make this possible!”
Both students have given their permission to use this in our Annual Review.
The RTMF Committee considered both students and to be very worthy recipients.
