LASE member Judith Crowe has been a member of BPW UK for fifty years
and continues to be active within our Advocacy Working Group. Thank you to Ju-
dith for reviewing our October Webinar. Judith also felt that following on from an
article in her Rotary magazine, we had things in common with a campaign they are
currently running called “Getting serious about domestic violence”. So, I held a
zoom meeting with Judith and Nicky Alberry ( linkedin.com/in/nicky-alberry-
1644a311 ) who is the Chair of Swindon Domestic Abuse support service and was
High Sheriff of Wiltshire in 2018 -19. Nicky has kindly agreed that we can publish
the article that she has written, and hope that we can consider that the training
programme for our members will be of value and can increase what we can do to
assist not just victims but also address the issues that perpetrators have. Last
week Jess Phillips MP (https://www.gov.uk/government/people/jess-phillips )
spoke about how businesses must do more to help victims of domestic abuse and
sexual harassment at work.

This is especially poignant in the wake of the historic allegations against Mo-
hamed Al-Fayed and his time at Fulham Football Club and Harrods. I hope to hold
an in-person meeting with Nicky before our International Congress next month and
will report back to you all in a future edition.
Finally, I can give you an update to say that the FEC and I have signed the
contract for our Conference 2025 in Tyne and Wear, kindly hosted by SYNE. The
location hotel is in Washington and the theme is “A Bridge to the Future”. As a
Conference Task Force we are working on the speakers now, but we can confirm
that the popular National Final of our successful Inter-Regional Public Speaking
th
competition will be held on 4 April 2025. This will follow the BPW UK AGM and the
MEF AGM in the morning.
If you would like to book the conference hotel, please contact Amanda Wilson,

In Bristol we had the opportunity to visit the Bristol Aerospace Museum for a tour
of Concorde. The Taskforce and SYNE are looking to plan a cultural visit on the
Sunday of our conference weekend, and this area has a rich history for us to ex-
plore. Do please consider extending your dates to enjoy this opportunity.
