MEMBERS EMERGENCY FUND (MEF)

As the evenings draw in and the temperature begins to drop (according to my
computer as I write this it is -1 outside – certainly the car windscreen is all iced
over) this is just a gentle reminder that MEF is still here to assist contributing mem-
bers – whether that be a Grant (up to £1K) or an interest free Loan (repayable on
agreed terms to suit the needs of the member). Never be backward in coming for-
ward – we consider all applications individually as what one member may see as an
emergency may not be the same as another member yet both will be given the same
amount of consideration by the Trustees. Applications may cover improving your
home in some small way to make it more energy efficient; for more efficient cooking
appliances to ensure hot food such as winter soups are easily made; equipment to
ensure your garden paths remain ice/snow free or things that would make a ‘working
from home’ space more efficient as well as welcoming.

Community Grant – this is the final year that MEF will consider applications
from BPW members for a Grant up to £1K in respect of a community group or chari-
ty known to them in their local community. If you wish to recommend a local chari-
ty then please request a form for the said charity to complete and submit the appli-
cation to the MEF Trustees. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2024 in
order to ensure they are considered by all Trustees and granted before Christmas
         2024.

I look forward to hearing from members – if you have any questions before
submitting an application please get in touch either with your local MEF Trustee or
         myself.
