P. 29

I attended the meetings of the 6-0 Committee of other like-minded organisations,
where work continues to overcome problems for businesses and organisations of all sizes, as
well as develop young people who wish to build their skills and confidence for working at the
          United Nations level.

                                                  The Nottingham Playhouse

On 25 November 2021, I was privileged to join a live
event marking the start of the annual United Nation’s 16
Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, which
was run by the Soroptimists in Nottingham. The initiative
was supported by the Sheriff of Nottingham and by many
of the city’s famous landmarks who lit up their venues in
                                                  the signature colour, orange.

                                                                                       ‘Reclaim the Night’ march

Two days later, the annual ‘Reclaim the Night’ march also re-
sumed, where I was one of the marshals for over 400 women and
girls as we walked through the city centre in support of the right of
others to safely do the same.

                                Orange themed festive fare

The area Christmas event on 06 December 2021 was still within the 16
days of action and we met on ZOOM to create an orange themed buffet
                                of festive snacks.

We are now into 2022 and intend to build on the achievements of the past 12 months
and I thank everyone for their ongoing support, in whatever capacity. ‘Teamwork makes the
          dream work’.

The work continues in 2022 with a variety of activities in support of the UN Sustainable
Development Goal 13 on restoring the balance of nature. This is a BPW interest group and
we are happy to welcome new members. Helen Ashworth invited Clare Plowes to a BPW UK
Wednesday talk to explain how she opened three ‘zero waste ‘ stores in Lancashire. There
was much advice on how everyone could make small changes that collectively added up to
          reducing pollution and landfill.
