The fund’s purpose is to help individuals
“who are suffering from physical handicap or disability of whatever nature
and however caused by making grants of money or equipment for the pro-

devices or other aids as are not generally provided from public funds to

Throughout the year the Trustees have received enquiries, through the Charity Commis-
sion Website, from organisations and from an individual. Unfortunately we were unable to
grant an award to the organisations as they were applying on behalf of the organisation and
         not for a named individual.

We were, however, delighted to support an application from Jane Kendrick, who was
applying for support to fund a two year part time place on an innovative MA Arts and Place
Course at Dartington Arts College in Devon. The course is residency based and involves a net-
work of hosts around the UK. We received a detailed report about Jane’s circumstances, the
course and what it entailed, as well as a break-down of the fees needed and how she was pro-
posing to self-fund herself, as well as applying for funding. In her application Jane wrote:

“…….. it will play a vital role in the path towards reaching my full creative potential, my best
         self, and give me confidence.”

It was agreed by the Trustees, that Jane was a suitable applicant to the Fund and decid-
ed to make her a grant of £500 towards the cost of the additional programmes-specific fees.

                  The Trustees would welcome enquiries.

                   Application is simple:
write or email the Chair of the Fund c/o BPW UK HQ along with the reason for applying for a
         grant and the amount requested.■
