MEMBERS EMERGENCY FUND (MEF)
As the evenings draw in and the temperature begins to drop (according to my com-
puter as I write this it is -1 outside – certainly the car windscreen is all iced over) this is just
a gentle reminder that MEF is still here to assist contributing members – whether that be a
Grant (up to £1K) or an interest free Loan (repayable on agreed terms to suit the needs of
the member). Never be backward in coming forward – we consider all applications individu-
ally as what one member may see as an emergency may not be the same as another mem-
ber yet both will be given the same amount of consideration by the Trustees. Applications
may cover improving your home in some small way to make it more energy efficient; for
more efficient cooking appliances to ensure hot food such as winter soups are easily made;
equipment to ensure your garden paths remain ice/snow free or things that would make a
‘working from home’ space more efficient as well as welcoming.
Community Grant – this is the final year that MEF will consider applications from BPW
members for a Grant up to £1K in respect of a community group or charity known to them in
their local community. If you wish to recommend a local charity then please request a form
for the said charity to complete and submit the application to the MEF Trustees. The dead-
line for applications is 30 November 2024 in order to ensure they are considered by all Trus-
tees and granted before Christmas 2024.
I look forward to hearing from members – if you have any questions before submit-
ting an application please get in touch either with your local MEF Trustee or myself.
