Introducing the following letter addressed
to Anu Viks, Executive Member of BPW International
by Miette Dechelle, European Women’s Lobby (EWL) Board Member
and conveyed to us.
Dear Members,
Many of you may remember Miette who led one of our Wednesday Webinar
evenings in 2023, and explained the work of The European Women’s Lobby.
The letter below was circulated to all of the BPW European President's, to help
raise awareness with our members. This is currently very much a part of the focus
of BPW UK, as we draw closer to the conference in Bristol.
The advocacy session is based upon the motion “Should Misogyny be a hate
crime?”. We have an excellent panel of three speakers around this topic: Claire
Hiscott the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset Police
force; Nick Gazzard, founder of the charity "The Hollee Gazzard Trust" which
was formed ten years ago. This followed the murder of his daughter, Hollee by a
violent ex-partner. Finally, we shall hear from Claire Haslegrove the Prospective Par-
liamentary Candidate for Filton and Bradley Stoke, the area where we are holding
our conference 2024. Three differing sides of the argument, for us to make an in-
formed choice on this subject.
Are you going to be a part of this debate, either in the conference room or via
the hybrid option?
I look forward to hearing from all of you.
Jo Kinsey, President BPW UK
