Announcement:

The program chair was given a challenge to obtain an outstanding speaker from
Southern California …..because our Northern neighbors had a speaker.
So my challenge was to get a good one.

Mayor Karen Bass?.. or perhaps Gloria Allred? Both interested in women’s
issues. However let’s look at our own Federation. And I came out with the perfect
speaker.

At Annual Conference we will have a speaker and member from southern Cali-
fornia - Ashley Maria, who is a member of Hollywood BPW. She had a goal (to be a Di-
rector in Hollywood). She faced many difficulties in making that happen. She fund-
raised to be able to produce and direct an award-winning film called "Pioneers in
Skirts." She will soon have another documentary coming out. Her activities in BPW in-
cluding working with BPW-International. National, State, District and Club level. She
represented BPW-International at the United Nations Commission on the Status Wom-
en before the Pandemic. For two years she represented our Young BPW members on
the NFBPWC Executive Committee and was the person who got the Young BPW mem-
ber as a permanent position on the NFBPWC Executive Committee. Ashley Maria will
share her message on Zoom via a video as did for the Federation Congress Woman
Judy Chu and new elected Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath.

She will share how not to give up in remembering the words of
Susan B Anthony: “Failure is Impossible “.
