Edition 128– February / March 2025
Dear members,
As I am writing to you, I am aware that this will be my last Newsletter Intro-
duction as President of BPW UK.
I have enjoyed meeting so many of you, and hearing about what you are do-
ing in each area of BPW UK.
But we have much to celebrate within BPW UK.
- The Public speaking competition was registered with BPW International as a pro-
ject, and it has been much admired by BPW Colleagues.
- BPW UK agreed to Twin our Federation with BPW Chernihiv in Ukraine, based on
the humanitarian project “A Van for Chernihiv”.
- The FEC and Conference Task Force have moved registration on-line, to cut
postal costs and of course printing unnecessarily.
- Our members have represented us at all levels of BPW International, including
at the European BPW Conference, BPW Presidents Meetings within Europe, at-
tending Regional Conferences further afield and bringing back shared
knowledge from BPW Colleagues globally.
- We have been a part of European and International Working Groups
- BPW UK co-wrote with BPW Estonia a Green European Motion, on how we at-
tend and plan BPW events in the future. This was voted on unanimously at the
European Presidents Meeting in Rome and has now been re-written to be de-
bated with the IFBPW Congress 2024 roll-over of unfinished resolutions.
- Our BPW UK Newsletter is created and sent via e mail and has been enjoyed by
us all.
- The BPW UK website has been re-written in phase one, and the next phase will
take place post conference 2025. We now have a way to pay instantly with
PayPal!
- We will finalise our BPW Twinning with BPW Freeport Grand Bahama this month
entitled “Green and Sustainability in Business”
- We have a Green Ambassador! Ros Horsley will be explaining more at Confer-
ence 2025.
- At Congress in 2024, BPW UK was awarded the “Power to make a difference” for
the Chernihiv humanitarian project.
th
- We sent representation to celebrate the 30 anniversary of the Beijing Declara-
tion, at the United Nations Women HQ in New York. This was an important
milestone; with geo-political changes we needed to ensure our voice was
heard in the room, with other civil society partners.
- Strengthened ties with the Six O group within the UK civil society, which in-
cludes SIGBI, National Council of Women, Women’s Institute, Townswomen’s
Guild and British Federation of Women Graduates.
