Katherine walked through the final set of prison doors
and crumpled into the arms of Ron Duncan, her husband
for the past 10 years. God, it felt good to be held again after six years in a cell. She knew they'd have to start
all over again, but right now nothing mattered. Not Gary's tragic death in a helicopter accident the year she turned herself in. Not the loss of their house or Ron's bookkeeping job back in Corvallis, Oregon. Not the reporters who would hound them for the rest of their lives. Not Lefty who was serving a life sentence for putting the bullet in Schroeder's back. Not even the twenty-six thousand bucks from the bank heist, which was never found.
