William “Lefty” Gilday Jr. was found guilty of murdering Walter Schroeder Sr. He was sentenced to death, later reduced to life in prison when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the death penalty nationwide. He died in prison on September 9, 2011, at age 82, of advanced Parkinson’s disease. Gilday spent 41 years in prison.
His advice for surviving: “Don’t come in.”
