All of the therapists assured Mary that it was just tight muscles, but she couldn’t stop thinking about a friend who had a similar problem, ignored it and eventually found
out he had lung cancer. As her story unfolded, a few
tears flowed, which didn't seem inappropriate under
the circumstances.
(So what do you really think? Am I a middle-aged hypochondriac?)
Doc: “Are you happy?”
“Do you ever think of taking your life?” Again— “Do you ever think of taking your life?”
“Do you cry a lot in general?”
Mary: “Yes.” “No.” “No.” “Not since I started hormone replacement therapy.”
