As she lit her last reefer and climbed out of bed, she mentally rehearsed the plan. The cover for the hit was a bank robbery intended to fund the movement against the Vietnam War. The target was a Fleet Bank on the edge of campus where Schroeder would be moonlighting as a security guard. The time was 10:15am right after the bank opened. She'd drive the car. Lefty’d do the rest.
They were assured by their CIA handler that it was a full-proof plan. Nothing could go wrong, but in the remote chance that something did, she was promised a new identity through the U.S. Federal Witness Protection Program. Lefty wouldn’t tell what he was promised.
She dressed quickly, emerged from the bedroom and found Lefty slouched on a beanbag chair, a fifth of Jim Beam in one hand, an empty glass in the other.
