Brief
Objective:
To redesign two common coffee brewing devices – the traditional coffee press
(pour-over style) and the French press – with a focus on embodying the distinct design
principles and aesthetic of renowned industrial designer Ross Lovegrove. The redesign
should explore innovative forms, material choices, and user interaction while maintaining
the core functionality of each brewing method.
Background:
The coffee press and French press are established methods for brewing coffee, each with
its own set of advantages and user base. This project aims to elevate the aesthetic appeal
and potentially enhance the user experience of these familiar objects through the lens
of contemporary design, specifically drawing inspiration from Ross Lovegrove’s organic,
biomorphic, and often technologically advanced style.
Target Audience:
Primary: Design enthusiasts, coffee connoisseurs, individuals who appreciate
well-designed and functional objects for their home.
