Problem Identification
Research Conclusion
According to US Environmental protection agency, it can be seen thats there is
major problems surrounding landfills. There are many products sent to landfills
that shouldn't be , such as batteries and aluminum. Aluminum is one of the most
sustainable materials, it can be recycled really easily by melting it down and re
shaping it. Aluminum cans are often found in landfills.
In 2018, landfills received approximately 2.7 million tons of aluminum. This was 1.8
percent of all municipal solid waste (MSW) landfilled that year. This is a very
worrying statistic because aluminum should never be sent to a landfill as it is
versatile and re-usable.
Hypothesis
In 2018, landfills received approximately 2.7 million tons of aluminum. This was
1.8 percent of all municipal solid waste (MSW) landfilled that year. Indicating
that noncompliance with recycling systems within the public realm and
commercializing, is increasing pressure on finite earth resources, which could be
improved via an Aluminum recycling based product, using social science
research and user centered product design research.
