Manufacturing Process and chosen material
The drum is made from stainless steel.
Stainless steel sheet is shaped by rolling it.
The rolled sheet is clamped into place.
The machine welds the sheet together to create the
barrel shape.
Stainless steel is chosen for its:
Resistance to corrosion.
Ease of forming into shapes.
Good mechanical properties over a wide range of
temperatures.
The panels on the side of the machine are formed by
pressing sheets of zinc-coated steel into moulds.
Zinc-coated steel provides protection against corrosion.
The basket of the machine will be manufactured by injection
moulding.
Polypropylene will be used for its:
Good chemical resistance.
Heat resistance.
Low water absorption compared to other polymers.
