gardening for birds - attracting woodpeckers pet grass
Although both cats and dogs are carnivores,
they often have a craving for green plants, like a
little grass, especially if they do not spend a lot
of time outdoors.
Consuming grass speeds up your pet’s digestion process due
to fibre, not to mention the breath cleansing chlorophyll and
a good cleansing of their digestive system. Pets who might
have eaten something which disagrees with them, such as
allergic or indigestible matter, may eat grass to bring on
vomiting to rid their system of any potential toxins, and
settle their stomach.
Cats especially spend a large part of their day grooming
themselves, making them prone to hairballs. Grass eating
Bennet’s Woodpecker can help aid in their digestion and help with coughing up
hair balls. Many pets really enjoy eating plants and having a
non-toxic plant that is your pets preferred snack may prevent
them from attacking other houseplants!
You can grow grass in pots for your indoor pets, or plant it
in beds outdoors for animals that spend time outside. Seed
packets are available from Starke Ayres called ‘Pet grass’. If
your pet lives primarily indoors, plant two containers, one to
have indoors while the other goes back out into the sun to
regain its vigour. Use a container that is the right height for
Bearded Woodpecker your pet, so they don’t have to strain to reach the grass. S.C
Housecalls, consultations, and surgery on appointment
