“a to Z... Full of Life t and Loving It”
here are many ways to live life.” Says Adonica Albert. “I choose to live it one day at a time.” Her closest friends describe her as a ‘survivor’ and passionate about everything she does.
She gets up when she is knocked down, with a smile on her face.
Having suffered through three strokes and many more physical and emotional setbacks,
the 55-year-old mother from Edmonton lives life to the fullest and simply refuses to quit.
“She’s so resilient, nothing seems to stop her.” Says Chris Boyle, who has been a longtime friend and
entrepreneurial partner.
Adonica found her career passion about 25 years ago as a personal trainer at a little gym called Spa Lady. “I have always been active all my life, and the joy of changing ladies’ lives sparked a light in me.”
Now Adonica is diving into what she believes is an extension of her personal training,
becoming an independent Rep for ZYIA Active. “ZYIA gives me an opportunity to help women feel comfortable in active wear, which is super hard. ZYIA fits ‘Everybody,’ not just for the fit.”
Breaking sales targets monthly since its start, ZYIA’s mission is to “create excitement, vigor and delight by inspiring and enchanting your life with high- quality clothes for working out or on-the-go.”

“I love to sing and dance, drink fine wine, have a great time with family and close friends,” Adonica says. “My family and friends mean the world to me.
I cherish every lesson I learn from them because you don’t know how long you have with them, especially my parents, who will be married 60 years
this year.”
A longtime friend and sports news journalist from the states, Jim Castor, says Adonica’s life has been enriched by the many sports she has excelled at – figure skating especially.
“She says she was pretty shy as a child, but competition brought her out of her shell.
“Growing up with her mom and dad in the Canadian Forces, she travelled the world, and still continues that. She says ‘you learn so much from travelling, and recognize how fortunate you are.’ ”
Adonica’s dear friend and travelling companion of more than 50 years, Shelley Martin, says “In a nutshell ... She is my happy place!”
One of Adonica’s favorite “words to live by” is from a familiar children’s story:
“You’ll get mixed up of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with care and great tact, and remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act!”
It’s from ‘Oh The Places You Will Go’ by Dr Seuss.
