EYL participants and chaperones visited the Civil Rights
Museum, toured Birmingham Southern University and

attended the Alvin Ailey Performance at UAB’s Alys
Stephens Performing Arts Center, Birmingham, AL, with

Funding from the Ivy Center.

EYL participants received a copy of “The New
Totally Awesome Business Book for Kids” by

the brother/sister team of Arthur and Rose
Bochner. This book was an additional tool to
. assist the participants as they developed their

group entrepreneurial businesses.

The Youth Summit was specifically designed for middle school-aged girls in an effort to
address issues that are prevalent amongst this age group. The theme: “Developing
Leaders: One Girl at a Time” encapsulates the very essence of the Youth Summit.

Interactive workshops serve as a catalyst to informing youth about the significance of
developing leadership skills, a positive self-concept, and making sound decisions. This

program, sponsored by EGO was was held in conjunction with the 2014 AKA South
Eastern Convention held in Huntsville.
