2021 Hall of Fame Member
Gary English
Gary English was a star football player and
golfer in high school; however, the
power of Putt-Putt was too much to resist
for the young man often called “Bear”
by his friends…and later “dad” by his
respectful peers. It is the respect he gives
to the game, and his putting skills, that
has enabled him to attain the highest
honor provided to any athletic endeavor –
the Hall of Fame. Gary English will be
nd
inducted on Sept 21, 2021 - the 52
member of the elite Hall of Fame family.
A group comprised of members that achieved a high level of skill or
dedication to the PPA/APA sport. English was a top player throughout
the 60s and 70s. Upon returning to the game in the 90s and struggling
to return to his intimidating presence, he has now returned to the
winner’s circle on a consistent basis. As of this writing, he is battling for
Player of the Year on the Southern Putting Tour, an achievement very
few accomplish after a prolonged absence from the tour. English has
rd
yet to win the National Championship, a title of which he placed 3 or
better 5 times. However, he has yet to complete his career. After
nd
finishing 2 behind Bill Kirby Jr in the 2021 National Invitational – he
knows that his game has returned to top form to compete for major
titles.
Congratulations to the 2021 Hall of Fame player – Gary English.
