Welcome Message
Dear Parents, Students and Colleagues,
Welcome to the April 2023 edition of the Park Lane Press.
The past few months have flown by, and in this edition of the Park Lane Press you will once again be able to get a flavour of what our Secondary students and team have been up to.
Our students have been involved in various competitions and challenges, such as in Maths
and Physics. We have organised different subject trips as well as our annual ski trip for our Year 9s to Zell am See. There have also been many opportunities for students to take part in different workshops on a range of topics, from mental health and resourcefulness to drama and literature. In March, we held our Science Fair, where our students did an incredible job of researching and presenting Science projects which looked at a huge range of interesting topics including how colour affects the mind, and the growing problem of space debris.
I have been particularly pleased and impressed with our students by their contributions and successes in events which have provided them the opportunity to collaborate and use the knowledge and skills that they have gained in different subjects in innovative and new ways. For example, in December our Key Stage 3 students took part in STEAM day, a cross-curricular event where students developed creative approaches to various challenges and problems, combining what they had learned in Science, Maths, Art and Computer Science. In January, our students organised and hosted PLISMUN ’23, a student-led event which showcased their amazing talent, both in putting together a conference for more than 200 guests from different schools from multiple countries, as well as taking a lead in discussing significant social and political topics facing the international community.
