Life at Úvoz as Seen by Our Students
At the beginning of September this year, all IB students moved to a brand new IB campus at Úvoz, a picturesque street right below Prague Castle. Having spent almost 3 months there now, it is time
for feedback. This time, we decided to
let students share their experience with you – two students new to Park Lane in- terviewed two students who have already spent some time at Park Lane before their IB studies.
What is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions the Úvoz campus?
Natalie P. and Jan M.: IB. Nice view. Small community. Mountain. Professional environment. View.
How is the new Úvoz campus different from the Klárov one?
Natalie P.: The Úvoz campus is much big- ger than the Klárov one – there are a lot of classrooms and all of them are very spacious. The fact that everyone on this campus is going through the same makes me feel understood. Add to that, support- ive teachers and you get a nice feeling,
even though the IB is demanding. It is somehow relaxing to work in the study room in silence with the breath-taking views, knowing that no one will disturb me since we all are experiencing the same feelings and we all appreciate calm. Jan M.: I really like the new Úvoz campus since it’s a lot more spacious compared
to Klárov. I think it was a great decision to have a new building renovated just
for the IB students. I think all of us can agree that it was a beneficial change for us since we now have a more professional space where we can really be dedicated and focused on our studies.
Would you say it is a pleasant change?
Natalie P.: Yes. As I mentioned before, the campus offers a lot of space for the IB DP programme delivery and I also feel that here I am being treated as a mature young adult who can manage her time and handle her responsibilities. I feel prepared for life after Park Lane, for life at university.
Jan M.: Definitely. Like I said before the new campus gives IB students a new envi- ronment which feels really professional.
I personally think it’s a great change since now it feels like we genuinely are being prepared for the “real world”.
Is there anything you would change about the new campus?
Natalie P.: Well, even though it is new,
it would be pleasant to put some plants around and probably some posters on the walls to liven it up a bit. Also, we can’t wait to have the garden finished so as to be able to use it in the spring! But that would be all... Or maybe the hill could be less steep, but then the views would not be as good! (laughter)
Jan M.: The hill is the only downside of this new campus at Úvoz. It is quite long and steep, however, you can easily take the tram up to Pohořelec from which you can walk from the very top of the hill all the way to school.
