         Dr. Gaines is currently a professor and Dean for the College of Arts & Sciences.  Having
         started  her  post-secondary  education  in  philosophy,  Dr.  Gaines  later  switched  to
         studying  the  environment,  which  resulted  in  her  becoming  an  environmental

         toxicologist, who specializes in radiation.

         Her  enthusiasm  for  the  environment  shines  in  her  interview  and  list  of  impressive
         publications, some of which are listed below.
