The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is proud to present this year's Women's
History Month honorees. We are excited about the impact women are making in
helping to deliver a quality education and career opportunities to Embry-Riddle
students.
Women's History Month began as "Women's History Week" in 1981. A proclamation
was made to designate a week for celebration of the contributions women have made
in American history. Presidents continue to proclaim the month of March to help
recognize the achievements and continuing struggles of women in American society.
This year, we celebrate women from various departments. Although they have diverse
backgrounds, the honorees represent the passion, resilience, intelligence, and curiosity
of women at Embry-Riddle, in the United States of America, and around the world.
Through the interviews with Kenneth Hunt, Director, Office of Diversity, Equity and
Inclusion, it is our hope that the flames of passion will ignite or remain lit so that you
courageously and adventurously make your own impact in the world.
DID YOU KNOW ?
International Women's Day occurs during the month of March.
It began in 1911, with a precursor of National Woman's Day
which started in 1909. It was birthed out of the protests
women were making about unsafe working conditions, long
working hours, and lack of voting rights.
The colors for International Women's Day are purple, green,
and white, according to the official IWD site.
