Teo smiles. “She got that room with me in mind.” He is really set on trying to
piss me off. It would work if I hadn’t heard his plan. Instead of punching him like
I want to, I simply nod.
“Plans change.” Some of the people giggle. It was sad that this group of adults
don’t have their own voice or opinion. Not one of them told Teo to shut up or sit
down. I know for a fact Claire would have scolded me if I were that obnoxious. I
start picking up my bags.
“Sanya, I’m glad you’re cured.”
Her big confused eyes find me. “From what?” I grab her hand again and head
towards the door.
I shrug. “From whatever affliction made you think that ass was a good catch.”
More teeters from the lackeys.
We are momentarily back in the blinding sun. I shield my eyes with my hand.
I’d been in such a rush that I’d forgotten my shades. The breeze from the ocean,
the beautiful pale sand, and Sanya by my side are starting to give me vacation vibes.
Some of the tension eases out of my shoulders, and my grip on Sanya’s hand
loosens.
We make it next door and Sanya grabs my bag. I shake the sand out of my shoes
and socks. We are greeted with freshly made rum punches the moment our feet
touch the cool wood floor. I can get used to this, as well. Sanya drinks with gusto,
and I understand. Teo would drive anyone crazy.
I watch Sanya’s ass as we climb the stairs. I can’t see much because of her
oversized clothes. We make it in the room, and I close the door.
“Why are you wearing huge lounge clothes?”
She shrugs. “I didn’t feel like dealing with them this morning. I just threw
something on.”
I nod. “You’re drowning in them. They make you look thicker than you are.”
She shrugs again and sits in the middle of the bed. She crosses her legs and pulls
a pillow in her lap. “Again, didn’t care. I know what’s under my clothes.”
Oh, how I wish I could say the same thing. I want to see everything she has to
offer. I want to touch and taste it. I would happily lock her in the room for the rest
of the weekend, naked, if I had the power. She tilts her head to the side.
“What are you thinking, Henry?” I school my face and thoughts. I am not here
to complicate her life.
