6.Public Relations
Public relations is the process of bringing information to
the academic community about the library functions and
policies, and the interpretation of functions and policies, and
procedures to the public served by the college library.
a. Aims:
1. To inform constituents about the library programs,
services and resources;
2. To communicate to each potential library clientele or
clientele group the features of the library program
most to their interest.
b. Media of Interpretation:
Formal and informal channels of communication are
utilized to facilitate the process of interpretation and win
friends who will subsequently be willing to aid the library
in achieving the institution’s goals.
1. Annual report records of the years’ achievement
that serves as an indication of what the librarian
hopes to accomplish in the future. It also
describes collection growth, reader services,
staff, and library use and suggestions on library
improvement.
2. Library handbook describes how to gain access
to the library and its materials. It serves as a
guide to clients.
3. A monthly report is maintained to record
the accomplishments for the month.
