DIRECTOR’S WELCOME

Dear Friends,

Thank you for attending Elmwood Park Zoo’s Beast of a Feast. Tonight we are
celebrating not only the 11th anniversary of the event, but also the 95th anniversary
of the zoo. Your truly invaluable support has allowed us to take the zoo farther and
higher than it has been in almost a century, and for that I can’t thank you enough.

As you enjoy tonight’s festivities and discover some of our exciting new changes,
know that these first 95 years have merely been a stepping stone for the next
century of incredible exhibits, life-changing programs, and one-of-a-kind experiences
only Elmwood Park Zoo can offer. I feel it important to note that this period of
unprecedented success has only been enjoyed due to the talents, hard work and
dedication of the zoo staff that works resolutely toward our mission and who help
maintain the zoo’s vital role as an asset to our community.

Although it would, in itself, take more than a century to adequately thank her for
her incredible contributions, I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Mrs.
Sharon Danella for continuing to share with us her vision, guidance and support –
no other donor in the zoo’s history has proven to be a more stalwart friend to our
animals, those we educate and our community as a whole. I am honored to have
worked with Mrs. Danella, and I relish the opportunity to continue working with
her for years to come.

There are some exciting next steps on the horizon – a new parking lot, incredible
new exhibits, new programs, a full-service animal hospital and so much more. I
want you to take pride in knowing that this progress would not be possible without
your continued support. You are the foundation on which we build a better zoo.

Please enjoy your evening at Beast of a Feast. Thanks again for coming and I hope
to see you again soon.

Sincerely,

Al Zone
