P. 50
Alone we wait in a cold silence
Only some will understand our hushed cries. We are the broken and beaten, hurt and alone The ones who come last, and ones no one cares for. But we have to keep each other strong.
If no one cares, will they still see our fall?
They pretend to help, and act like they’re saving us. But then hide us away from society,
Watching us like we’re animals
Looking us up in horrific places,
Never knowing if we’ll ever get out.
We spend days, weeks, months because no one wants us.
I’m sorry if I’m an inconvenience.
I’m sorry I’m a failure.
You don’t know how hard I try, how much I struggle. It is the fear of failing but not being able to succeed. Breathing does not come naturally to us, Because the pain is crippling.
Don’t pretend to help us because we know it’s a lie.
Don’t pretend to care because it hurts more than being ignored. Don’t act like we’re crazy because we’ve found the definition of sane.
Yet still we fight,
Because we are strong.
And we’ll keep fighting until you drown us completely.
