IF THERE WAS NO MOON
Megan Oddie
If there was no moon.
All the stars would glow brighter, it’s true. But there are so many things I’d miss
If there was no moon.
For if there was no moon,
What would cause the flow of the tides?
No more gentle waves crashing against shallow shores, Lulling me to sleep every night.
If there was no moon,
Its soft beams could not sparkle
Across the freshly-fallen snow of the forest
And twinkle in between the icicles hanging from the trees.
If there was no moon,
How would the evening primrose and night lilies survive? No more beautiful buds blossoming
Under the caress of Night’s soft fingertips.
But perhaps the saddest thing is
If there was no moon,
I would not be able to see you shine so beautifully As we dance under its light.
