If testing is available and necessary to determine a given party’s state of health, the party must comply with testing and voluntarily reveal his or her health condition to the person with whom he or she interacts (if a face-to- face meeting occurs).
With regard to obtaining proper document notariza- tion, each state is becoming increasingly compliant with remote online notarization through audio-visual soft- ware, with comprehensive knowledge-based authentica- tion (questions the signer must answer that only he or she could know) and security software to protect and store cli- ents’ information. Attorneys in each state will have knowl- edge of the guidelines for online notarization.
Inroads In the Legal Field
The most significant inroad in the legal field would be to move practices online so that interaction becomes truly contact-free. Using technology as a means of interaction also can save time and resources, while still maintaining high levels of productivity. Even the court system may move online, but this measure could present some issues involving representation and the jury system.
