CHAPTER 9
THE VIRTUAL OFFICE
For decades, the virtual office has been a place ‘out there’ in the universe—wherever a given individ- ual happens to be—where entrepreneurs keep the wheels of commerce spinning in unique ways. Typically, most people who easily worked from home in the “BC” era were creative artists—painters/illustrators, graphic designers, app creators, IT specialists, writers, and a host of other professionals. It was not unusual to bring a prod- uct to life in one’s home office, wearing comfortable attire and slippers, controlling one’s own schedule, and at the same time, creating works of art or innovations that can, literally, change the world.
More than ever, independent, ‘distance’ working’ or ‘telecommuting’ is becoming the norm. During and after the pandemic, the trend has shifted away from the ‘tradi- tional’ workplace to the home, where people can maintain social distance, while still being proactive and productive as never before.
Naturally, those who are transitioning from
the marketplace to work at home have to face challeng- es, but all obstacles are easy to overcome, with faith in God, determination, and a dream. Just think! During the Bubonic Plague, Sir Isaac Newton (1642-ca. 1727) helped
