Used to create an eye at the end of a rope.
For sailors, being able to create an eye, or a loop, at the
end of a rope was once considered a basic and important
skill. Although ropes with eyes can now be purchased, a
reliable one can be made with this knot. This knot can
also be useful to campers who need a permanent loop at
the end of a rope.
