 the monk’s knot, refers to its use by Franciscan monks to
 weight the ends of the cords they used as belts. In addi-
 tion to being useful in camping and boating, the heaving
 line knot is sometimes employed by climbers.   As the turns tighten, form the
        knot into its final shape.

 Make three more turns with the working end   After  the  final  turn,  bring  the  working  end
 around the loop.  through  the  loop,  holding  the  turns  around
        the loop as tight as possible. Tighten the knot
        by pulling on the working end and the stand-
        ing part.
