Abstract
Chulalongkorn University Radio (CU Radio) is a public radio station with the purpose
of disseminating information, knowledge, entertainment, and culture to public as well as
to be a source of references and information for education and research. Broadcasting for
18 hours per day covering 25 provinces around Bangkok. After 2009, there was a signal
interference from the community radio. The technical team has conducted a survey of
radiation pattern of radius which was found that some provinces in the north of the station
can receive CU Radio signal namely Pathumthani, Ayudthaya, lower-part of Aung-thong.
To the northeast, the provinces that could receive the signal are Saraburi and Nakorn
Ratchasima (Ban Klang Dong). While to the east, Chacherngsao province and Chonburi
province were able to receive the signal. The provinces located to the west that could
receive the signal are Suphanburi, Kanchanaburi, and Nakorn Pathom. And to the south,
the signal covered Samut Sakorn, Samut Songkram, Ratchaburi, and Phetchaburi (Tha Yang)
province. However, in the area that community radios transmitted adjacent channel or
overlapping waves, the CU Radio signal strength could be received only in some area.
For the area of Bangkok sub-urban in which community radios broadcasting such as
frequency 101.25 and 101.75 MHz. the CU Radio signal strength could be received at
average 80% of the area. To resolve the problems, the technical division, cooperated with
the information technology division, has expanded the access by using multi-platform
technology. Nowadays, the audience are able to listen to CU Radio via the internet
channel, watch a live streaming via Facebook live, application, and they also can view
precedent programs via You Tube.
