policies which make contribution to responsible consumption and production in the
countries along the Belt and Road among our students.
4.3 Government Level: Teaching General Public the Importance of Recycling
One of the problems is limited coverage of different green program and activities
leading to limited influence of education and promotion of sustainable development to
all students. In response, activities should be organized in whole school level with a
broader coverage. In order to promote sustainable development to whole school, we
could cooperate with different government departments and participate in different
government school outreach program. For instance planning department organized
school outreach program, exhibitions can be set in the school covered playground,
according to the program, students have the chance to know more about town planning
and coping with saturating of landfill, students are able to have a more in depth
understanding on government’s policies and work, hence, understanding the initiative
took by government in managing municipal solid waste, as a result, this could know
their role and responsibility in recycling waste and alleviating the pressure of landfill.
Another school outreach program is the school outreach program of The Electrical and
46
Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) , which includes in-site exhibition and
school talks delivered by experts about energy efficiency and reusing different
resources. This can help students in building a sense in reducing, reusing and recycling.
These types of school outreach programme and cooperation with government could be
held in whole school level, with a broader coverage. Whole school and all students
could visit the exhibitions and attend talks delivered by experts from government.
Green activities are no longer limited to selected students only, but more students could
learn and understand the importance of sustainable development and practice green
consumption and recycling.
