I must congratulate the organisers of the recent
Kosmos Celebration held at Loch bridge on
Saturday, 29 April 2025, for bringing out the essence
of small town communities. It takes a family to bring
up a child, it takes a community to mature them.
No community can afford to lose people of the
calibré of Rassie, Johan, Sharon, Frans, and Chistina
whose recovery and resilience continues to amaze
us.
Saturday's get together was a celebration of the role
that all of you have played and will continue to play in
the community of Barkly East. It is seldom that one
can arrange a gathering of so many people from
across the spectrum of society in our area, all pleased
to be able to contribute in a tribute to the organisers
and what they have done and meant for the
betterment of our community. What a joyful, friendly
convivial atmosphere there was reuniting with friends
and members of the Barkly family whom you rarely
have the time or opportunity of meeting in such a
delightful setting.
The dappled shade of the trees lends itself to a casual
relaxed atmosphere combined with the wonderful
food, and the sound of the swiftly flowing river
providing background music, made for a perfect
early Autumn day. It was impossible to come away
not feeling uplifted and proud to be a part of this
lovely community.
Thank you to our hosts for not only including us in
this gathering, but for your resilience in overcoming
your life threatening disease and for being there to
inspire the rest of us in our journey through life.
