The Wonder Twins of GECPS
Georgia Electronic Conviction Processing System
A little birdy told me that they are called the Left to Right: Kila Johnson and
Wonder Twins among the Program Management Sharkiran Davis
Office (PMO). It fits! Kila Johnson and Sharkiran
Davis are the GECPS Program Managers that have
tamed electronic conviction processing not only
for DDS but for numerous customers and court
business partners!
Both have been working with GECPS for over two
years and together manage about 900 Courts and
multiple vendors concerning conviction
processing.
Kila says that watching the reporting error rate
continue to go down has been a very proud
moment. It has been reduced from a 14% error
rate to only 2% for all courts. Sharkiran applauds
the system improvements that they partnered
with IT to achieve as a great accomplishment.
Located at Conyers headquarters, the GECPS
department reports directly to Darrell Harrison,
manager of the Business Standards Unit (BSU) and
is housed within the DDS Project Management
Office (PMO), which is headed by Brett Young.
The Georgia Electronic Conviction Processing
System, commonly referred to as GECPS, has been
owned and maintained by DDS since 2005. It
allows Georgia courts to submit convictions in a
standard electronic format and ensures courts
have a way of reporting that information to DDS
within 10 days of the disposition date (which is
mandated by law.)
Kila and Sharkiran assist court personnel regarding
electronic submissions by phone, email, and face-
to face interaction. They provide outreach training
services to court staff concerning state and federal
laws, DDS/GECPS regulations, and GECPS-related
rules and policies. Training workshops are
customized to meet the specific needs of each
court.
There are currently 880 active courts registered
with GECPS out of 900-plus courts in Georgia.
