Felicia Crumbley and Jazzmeen Brewer
recently attended the Council of
Accountability Court Judges (CACJ)
Training Conference as an Exhibitor
representing DDS. The Training
Conference was held at The Classic
Center in Athens, At the Conference, they
had an opportunity to speak with
Accountability Court attendees on the
services that our DDS Accountability
Court Help Desk offers to Accountability
Courts throughout the State. The
attendees were court officials: State and
Superior Accountability Court Judges,
Coordinators, Case Managers, Probation
Officers, Defense Attorneys and
Prosecutors. Attending the training
conference was an opportunity to attend
their workshops that gave a glance at
how the accountability courts provide
alternative sentencing for those who
have mental illness and/or a substance
use disorder.
The goal of the accountability courts is to
restore participants into productive,
working, tax-paying citizens who provide
for their families, thereby reducing costs
to social services and the penal system.
The DDS Accountability Court Help Desk
provides assistance to accountability
courts officials and participants to
facilitate the implementation of O.C.G.A
40-5-76 (DDS provides suspension,
reinstatement, or issuance of limited
permits of driver’s licenses for
participants in drug, mental health,
veterans, operating under the influence,
or family treatment court divisions).
Attendees were enthusiastic when
stopping by the DDS table to get general
information. They asked questions and
complimented DDS on the excellent
service we are providing to the
Accountability Courts.
Great Job Felicia and Jazz!
