Florida Joins State to State (S2S)
Very soon you will hear statewide radio ads and will see TV PSAs coordinated by the Georgia
Association of Broadcasters (GAB) to alert our customers of the potential for having a
credential cancelled due to Florida joining the State to State (S2S) Verification Service. DDS
hopes to eliminate the scenario where a customer is arrested during a traffic stop with a
cancelled driver's license.
Federal Homeland Security Rules do not allow anyone to hold credentials from separate states.
If you have an ID card in Florida and a Driver’s License in Georgia, one of them will be
cancelled, and you may not know it! DDS is pointing customers that may have this situation to
the license status check feature on our website.
S2S is a means for a state to electronically check with all other participating states to
determine if the applicant currently holds a driver license or identification card in another
state. While this service has been available since 2015, many of Georgia’s neighboring states
like Florida have now joined.
This may be problematic for those who live and work across state lines or that maintain
Summer homes and have two credentials in different states. Be DDS Aware!
DDS has had a dedicated Team working with AAMVA on S2S making this
transition much easier!
