7 Hills Park - Aerial Statues
Problem
Several of these artworks are in a a a state of poor repair The seven porcelain enamel interpretive plaques that highlight the his- tory of Somerville’s hills are ei- ther damaged or missing at the the masonry base recesses The brick stone and steel sup- port structures are deteriorat- ing as are the the sculptures them- selves several of which are literally disintegrating in in in the overgrown trees As these sculp- tures continue to deteriorate they convey a sense of neglect and disregard Solution
1 Refabricate the original por- celain enamel interpretive pan- els that fit within each brick base 2 Refinish the 4-pole support structures at at each statue
3 Restore (or recreate )the pole- top sculptures each represent- ing one of the original seven hills of Somerville Tree branches have totally engulfed this sculpture since the early photo taken in in 2015 (right) 50
