Our first in-person Sunday meeting took place on Sunday 23rd May 2021 at 10.30am. After 61 Sundays with no meeting at the Salvation Army hall, it was both daunting and exciting to once again meet together for worship. Up and out in our Sunday clothes, checking the time, so as not to be late, worship being led at Scunthorpe for the very first time by our Corps Officer Major Lynne.
It was Pentecost, and we were celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit to the early day disciples. Would we sense that coming too when we were also experiencing distractions, differences, frustrations and restrictions?
On Monday these comments were heard:
Strange, but good, lovely to see everyone and hear Lynne speaking, listen to music and receive the message in person.
Really inspiring.
Uplifting, thoughtful and full of food for me to take in. I felt the presence of God.
So lovely to sit there and have ‘me’ time with God.
Gen..It’s the strangest ‘first meeting’ experience at a corps I have ever been to.
Lynne..It was good to be able to interact, and a relief to stand on the platform and see people’s eyes.
Oh yes, we were not disappointed. It was a blessing to GO to worship, share limited fellowship, be refreshed, and be filled so we can be refreshing to others for Jesus’ sake.
