A Word from Linda
Many of you know that I work at a café in Scunthorpe. When the first lockdown came, I was, like many other people put on furlough as the café was to close during the pandemic.
It seemed very strange not going to work, to the shops or even going to the Army. Like many others I normally did a lot of activities throughout the week, from doing the Army books on a Monday evening to songster practice and leading the timbrels.
When Lockdown came I found plenty to occupy myself: cleaning cupboards, sorting out wardrobes when clothes no longer fitted. As time was going on and I found that l had more time, I started making birthday cards again which I really enjoy. In the time of Lockdown I also found the peacefulness of everything, especially to listen to the birds and watch them feeding in the garden. It made me think of the stillness of God’s presence and in Psalm 46 verse 10 it says ‘Be still and know that I am God’
I have felt God very close to me in the past 18 months. It is good to listen to God in the stillness of his presence. One of my favourite songs found in Song Book number 353 is Be still for the presence of the Lord.... and now it is good to once again join in with others on a Sunday morning, not as we have known it, but it is still good to be in the presence of the Lord.
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.
He burns with Holy fire, with splendour he is crowned. How awesome is the sight, our radiant king of light.
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.
