CGG SHARKS NETBALL CLUB
THE CLUB RECEIVED EXCELLENT NEWS FROM SPORTS WALES IN JANUARY
CGG Sharks were awarded the 'Be Active' Grant which will enable the club to become more diverse and inclusive to attract more adult women playing netball.
The Sharks will now be expanding their training sessions so that they offers a wider variety of opportunities for all skill levels, from league level to beginners. Women from any backgrounds are welcome to this friendly club.
The Sharks committee members are working hard to push a recruitment drive at the end of the winter league to further grow the club. They hope to develop a new 'social' team during the summer which will add to the existing division 2 and division 3 teams.
Exciting times ahead!
MACMILLAN FUND RAISING
Captain of the Sharks, Natalie Caughtry has been successful in securing a position in the London marathon on April 23rd and has chosen Macmillan cancer support as her charity. This is
particularly poignant as one of our own netball team members was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2022.
A Quiz was held at the Mulberry, Conwy on March 24th which was a hugely successful fundraising night which has led to the club raising over £4,000 and counting. Local netball teams and their friends and families supported the club by attending the sell out event. There were 19 quiz teams and almost 100 people present. Local and national businesses generously provided prizes worth over £2500.
This event has brought our community together and also promoted the club further. The results have been amazing and also heart warming to see the positive impact it has by using sport to bring people together. Our team member is doing well, although still going through her treatment. We will continue to support her every step of the way until she is back playing on court with us!
