INSPORT
It’s a great way for those who are unsure about attending community clubs or leisure centres to come to a safe environment and meet the volunteers, coaches and staff members and try a variety of options before deciding if that’s something they would like to do on a more regular basis. It’s also an ideal opportunity for those already attending regular sessions to see what else is available so they can increase their activity levels - if their busy schedules allow!
Rather than run a single event, this year the decision was made to run two separate events at different locations on different dates. The first event was held in The Barn at Eirias on Thursday February 8th and the opportunities on offer were tailored towards disabled people with a learning disability, intellectual impairment or those with complex needs. The activities included adapted cycling delivered by The Conwy Freewheelers, boccia with the Conwy Castles, cricket provided by the Super 1s disability cricket coaches, football from Llandudno FC, and rugby delivered by the Colwyn Bay Stingrays. In addition to this, the Conwy Whales Swimming Club had an information table highlighting their club opportunities and Ffit Conwy staff also provided gym and fitness equipment for those interested in learning more about independent exercise through the Ffit Conwy membership.
Ffit Conwy’s Inclusion Officer, Mark Richards, said
“These events are always popular with those who attend and each time we run them we see club memberships grow as . a result.”

The insport Series made a welcome return to Conwy with two separate events taking place in February and March 2024. The events are designed to give disabled people, and their family and friends, the opportunity to see some of the inclusive physical activity and sport opportunities on offer locally.
